Stephen’s fitness journey began at just 12 years old with a small weight bench, a barbell, and a set of old-school concrete plates. What started as a passion for strength quickly became a way of life. Growing up, he played baseball as a catcher and football as both a fullback and linebacker, developing the toughness, discipline, and competitive mindset that would shape his future. At 18, Stephen enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving 13 years on active duty, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Throughout his life, Stephen embraced a powerbuilding approach to fitness, combining heavy strength training with bodybuilding principles. However, years of physical demands and numerous injuries have led him to redefine what strength truly means. Today, his focus has shifted toward functional training, mobility, flexibility, and building a body that moves and performs better for the long haul.
Beyond physical strength, fitness has played a powerful role in Stephen’s mental health and personal growth. As a veteran navigating life with PTSD, the gym has remained a constant source of stability, clarity, and purpose. For Stephen, training is more than lifting weights — it's a way to heal, grow, and keep moving forward.
His journey is a reminder that true strength isn't just about how much you can lift, but about what you can overcome.
