Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Burbayne Inc. ("Burbayne," "we," "us," or "our"), as the publisher and operator of Athletes World, collects, uses, discloses, stores, and otherwise processes personal information when you access or use the Athletes World website, purchase lifetime access, subscribe to communications, submit content, purchase or participate in features, interact with advertisements, or otherwise use our websites, products, services, and related offerings (collectively, the "Services").
Athletes World is a digital publication published and operated by Burbayne Inc. References in this Privacy Policy to "Athletes World," "we," "us," or "our" refer to Burbayne Inc. in connection with its operation of the Athletes World publication and Services.
By using the Services, you acknowledge that your personal information may be collected, used, disclosed, and otherwise processed as described in this Privacy Policy. Where applicable law requires consent for particular processing activities, we will seek such consent as required.
This Privacy Policy is intended to address privacy requirements that may apply to our operations and users in Canada, the United States, the European Economic Area ("EEA"), the United Kingdom, and other jurisdictions in which the Services are available. Your specific rights may vary depending on where you reside and which laws apply to you.
1. Who This Privacy Policy Applies To
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we process in connection with the Services, including information relating to website visitors, subscribers, lifetime-access purchasers, athletes, coaches, contributors, applicants, advertisers, feature participants, individuals who submit photographs or other materials, and people who communicate with us.
The Services may include editorial features, submissions, applications, interviews, profiles, and other publication-related opportunities for athletes who are at least 13 years old.
Athletes between the ages of 13 and 17 may participate in eligible Services without parental or guardian authorization unless such authorization or consent is required by applicable law for the specific activity, processing, release, purchase, or transaction.
Purchases, contracts, releases, or other transactions requiring legal capacity must be completed or authorized by a parent, legal guardian, or other legally authorized adult where required by applicable law.
Individuals under the age of 13 may not submit applications, create accounts, purchase Services, or otherwise provide personal information through the Services.
2. Personal Information We Collect
The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with the Services. We may collect the following categories of information.
Identity and contact information. This may include your first name, last name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, billing address, country, and other contact information.
Age and demographic information. We may collect your age, date of birth, gender, measurements, general location, interests, demographic characteristics, athletics, sports, training, or other athlete-related information, or other information that you voluntarily provide in connection with a submission, application, feature, profile, survey, promotion, or other interaction.
Information concerning youth athletes. If an athlete between the ages of 13 and 17 participates in an editorial feature, submission, application, interview, profile, or other publication-related activity, we may collect limited information about the athlete, such as their name, age or age range, photographs, videos, sport, athletic interests, team or organization information, achievements, biography, general geographic location, and other information voluntarily provided for the applicable activity. We may collect information concerning a parent or legal guardian where such information or authorization is required by applicable law or necessary for a particular transaction, release, or activity.
Purchase and transaction information. We may collect information about lifetime-access purchases, paid features, advertising purchases, transaction dates, transaction amounts, products or services purchased, billing details, Stripe customer or transaction identifiers, payment status, refunds, disputes, and related records.
Payment information. Payments may be processed by third-party payment processors such as Stripe. We do not intend to store complete payment-card numbers on our own servers. Payment processors may independently collect and process payment-card information, billing information, fraud-prevention information, and other information necessary to complete transactions.
Account and access information. Lifetime access may be associated with your email address and authenticated using unique links, tokens, cookies, or similar technologies rather than a traditional password. We may store identifiers, authentication tokens, access records, login information, and related technical information necessary to provide and protect your access.
Photographs, videos, and submitted content. We may collect photographs, videos, biographies, descriptions, articles, captions, portfolios, social-media handles, websites, professional information, athletic and sports-related information, submissions, correspondence, and other content that you voluntarily provide.
Feature and publication information. If you apply for, purchase, participate in, or are selected for a feature, we may collect information necessary to review, prepare, edit, administer, publish, promote, and archive that feature.
Communications. We may collect emails, support inquiries, advertising inquiries, submissions, feedback, survey responses, complaints, privacy requests, and other communications you send to us.
Technical and device information. When you use the Services, we and our service providers may automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, language, referring URLs, approximate geographic location derived from IP address, pages viewed, links clicked, timestamps, session information, cookie identifiers, advertising identifiers, and other device or network information.
Usage and analytics information. We may collect information about how you use and interact with the Services, including pages and stories viewed, time spent on pages, navigation patterns, referral sources, interactions, conversions, and other usage information.
Advertising and attribution information. We may collect information relating to advertisements you viewed or interacted with, advertising campaigns that referred you to us, conversions, attribution information, cookie identifiers, device identifiers, and related information.
Information from third parties. We may receive information from payment processors, advertising platforms, analytics providers, email providers, social-media services, service providers, business partners, publicly available sources, and other third parties where permitted by law.
3. Sensitive Personal Information
We do not intentionally request highly sensitive personal information such as government identification numbers, financial-account passwords, biometric identifiers used for identification, medical records, or precise geolocation unless such collection becomes necessary for a specific lawful purpose and appropriate notice or consent is provided.
Because Athletes World operates in the athletics, sports, training, nutrition, lifestyle, photography, and publishing industries, photographs and voluntarily submitted information may reveal or permit inferences about characteristics such as age, gender, racial or ethnic background, physical characteristics, or other information that may receive heightened protection under certain privacy laws. We process such information only for appropriate purposes associated with the Services and subject to applicable law.
Please do not provide sensitive personal information that we have not specifically requested.
We recognize that personal information relating to children and youth may require additional protection. When processing information concerning a youth athlete, we seek to limit collection, use, and disclosure to information reasonably necessary for the applicable editorial, publication, administrative, safety, or legal purpose and to obtain parental or guardian authorization or consent where specifically required by applicable law.
4. How We Collect Personal Information
We may collect personal information directly from you when you purchase lifetime access, subscribe, submit a form, communicate with us, purchase a feature, submit photographs or content, apply for an opportunity, participate in a promotion, interact with the Services, or otherwise provide information to us.
We may also collect information automatically through cookies, pixels, analytics technologies, server logs, authentication systems, and similar technologies.
We may receive information from third parties, including payment processors, hosting providers, advertising platforms, analytics providers, email providers, social networks, business partners, and other service providers.
5. How We Use Personal Information
We may use personal information for purposes including:
- Providing, operating, maintaining, and improving the Services;
- Processing lifetime-access purchases and other transactions;
- Providing and authenticating lifetime access;
- Sending access links and transactional communications;
- Processing and administering paid features, submissions, applications, advertisements, promotions, and other offerings;
- Reviewing, editing, publishing, displaying, distributing, and promoting submitted content where authorized;
- Communicating with you about the Services;
- Providing customer service and technical support;
- Sending newsletters, editorial updates, promotions, offers, and marketing communications where permitted by applicable law;
- Personalizing content and experiences;
- Understanding readership, audience behavior, and website usage;
- Measuring advertising and marketing performance;
- Conducting analytics and research;
- Developing and improving products, services, editorial offerings, and technology;
- Detecting, investigating, and preventing fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Use;
- Protecting our users, businesses, intellectual property, rights, property, and safety;
- Maintaining accounting, tax, transaction, compliance, and business records;
- Establishing, exercising, or defending legal claims;
- Complying with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, and governmental requests;
- Enforcing our agreements and policies;
- Supporting business transactions, financing, restructuring, acquisitions, mergers, or sales; and
- Carrying out other purposes disclosed to you at the time information is collected or otherwise permitted by law.
6. Lifetime Access and Authentication
If you purchase lifetime access to Athletes World, we may associate your access rights with your email address and other account or transaction information.
Access may be provided using an email link that automatically authenticates you without requiring a password. These links or associated authentication tokens may be unique to you and should be treated as confidential.
We may process authentication information, cookies, tokens, IP addresses, device information, and access history to provide access, maintain sessions, protect accounts, prevent unauthorized sharing, investigate abuse, and maintain the security of the Services.
If you request deletion of information that is necessary for us to identify you as a lifetime-access purchaser or authenticate your access, fulfilling that deletion request may make it impossible for us to continue providing lifetime access. Where permitted by applicable law, deletion of such information may therefore result in termination or loss of access.
7. Email Communications and Marketing
We may use your email address to send transactional communications necessary to provide the Services, including purchase confirmations, access links, security messages, service notices, customer-support communications, and important administrative information.
We may also send newsletters, editorial updates, promotions, offers, advertising communications, and other commercial messages where we have obtained any consent required by applicable law or otherwise have a lawful basis to do so.
You may unsubscribe from promotional email communications using the unsubscribe mechanism included in those messages or by contacting us. Unsubscribing from promotional communications will not prevent us from sending transactional, security, access, legal, or other non-promotional communications that are necessary to administer your relationship with us.
Withdrawal of marketing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.
8. User Submissions, Features, and Public Information
Athletes World is a publication. Information submitted for editorial consideration, athlete features, interviews, profiles, articles, advertisements, sponsored content, or other publication-related purposes may be intended for public distribution.
If you provide photographs, videos, your name, biography, athletic or sports-related information, social-media handles, website information, quotes, captions, descriptions, or other materials for publication, those materials may be published and made available to the public in accordance with our Terms of Use, applicable agreements, releases, permissions, and applicable law.
Information that has been lawfully published may be copied, indexed, cached, archived, shared, or otherwise retained by search engines, social-media platforms, internet archives, readers, or unrelated third parties outside of our control. Consequently, removal from our own systems may not result in removal of all copies available elsewhere on the internet.
Editorial and journalistic material may also be subject to exemptions, exceptions, or different legal treatment under applicable privacy and data-protection laws.
9. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, authentication technologies, software development tools, and similar technologies to operate the Services.
These technologies may be used to:
- Keep the website functioning;
- Authenticate lifetime-access users;
- Remember preferences;
- Protect against fraud and abuse;
- Understand website usage and performance;
- Measure readership and engagement;
- Measure advertising campaigns and conversions;
- Determine how visitors reached the Services;
- Personalize experiences;
- Support advertising and marketing activities; and
- Perform analytics and research.
Where required by applicable law, we will request consent before using non-essential cookies or similar technologies. You may also be able to control certain cookies through your browser settings or privacy controls. Disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Services.
10. Google Analytics
We may use Google Analytics and related Google technologies to understand how visitors interact with the Services. Google may collect information through cookies and similar technologies, including device information, browser information, IP-derived information, website activity, referral information, and interactions with the Services.
Information processed through Google services is subject to Google's own terms and privacy practices. Where required by applicable law, Google Analytics or related non-essential technologies will be subject to applicable consent or privacy controls.
11. Meta Pixel and Advertising Technologies
We may use the Meta Pixel and related technologies provided by Meta Platforms and its affiliates to measure advertising performance, understand conversions, create or measure audiences, attribute visits or purchases to advertising campaigns, and improve our advertising.
These technologies may allow Meta to receive information about your browser, device, interactions with the Services, pages visited, advertising interactions, purchases or conversions, cookie identifiers, IP-derived information, and other event information.
We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration as part of our ordinary business model. However, certain privacy laws define terms such as "sale," "sharing," "targeted advertising," or "cross-context behavioral advertising" broadly. Accordingly, some uses of advertising technologies or disclosures to advertising partners may constitute a sale, sharing, or targeted-advertising activity under applicable law even where no money is exchanged for your personal information.
Where required by applicable law, we will provide mechanisms to opt out of covered sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or similar processing.
12. Advertising and Sponsored Content
The Services may contain advertisements, sponsored content, paid features, brand partnerships, or other commercial material.
Advertisers and advertising partners may use their own technologies or receive information relating to advertising performance and interactions as permitted by law. Their handling of personal information may be governed by their own privacy policies.
13. Affiliate Links
Some content may contain affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link or purchase a product or service through such a link, we may receive a commission or other compensation.
Affiliate partners and retailers may independently collect information when you visit their websites or purchase their products. Their collection and processing of information is governed by their own privacy policies and practices.
14. Artificial Intelligence and Automated Technologies
We may use artificial intelligence, machine learning, automated systems, and other technologies to assist with activities such as content moderation, editorial workflows, image or content analysis, categorization, recommendations, fraud detection, customer support, marketing, analytics, content generation, editing, and improvement of the Services.
Information you submit may therefore be processed using automated tools or third-party technology providers where appropriate and permitted by law.
Where applicable law provides rights relating to decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects, we will honor those rights as required. We do not intend ordinary editorial assistance, content recommendations, analytics, or moderation tools to constitute solely automated legally significant decision-making.
15. How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to third parties where reasonably necessary to operate the Services or for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Categories of recipients may include:
- Burbayne Inc. and affiliated or related businesses;
- Hosting and infrastructure providers;
- Cloud storage and image-processing providers;
- Payment processors;
- Email and communications providers;
- Analytics providers;
- Advertising and marketing platforms;
- Technology and software providers;
- Security and fraud-prevention providers;
- Professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants, insurers, and auditors;
- Contractors and service providers performing services on our behalf;
- Government authorities or law-enforcement agencies where legally required or permitted;
- Parties involved in actual or contemplated business transactions; and
- Other recipients with your direction, authorization, or consent, or as otherwise permitted by law.
16. Service Providers
We currently use or may use third-party service providers including Heroku for application hosting and infrastructure, Cloudinary in connection with image storage, delivery, or processing through Active Storage, Stripe for payment processing, Mailgun and Gmail or Google services for email and communications, Meta for advertising and measurement, and Google for analytics and related technology services.
These providers may process personal information on our behalf or, in some circumstances, for their own purposes subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.
We may change, remove, or add service providers as our business and technology evolve without updating this Privacy Policy every time a vendor changes, provided our processing remains consistent with the purposes described in this Policy or we provide additional notice where required by law.
17. Payment Processing
Payments may be processed by Stripe or another third-party payment processor. Payment processors may collect your name, billing information, payment-card information, transaction information, device information, and information used for fraud prevention and regulatory compliance.
We do not intend to receive or store your complete payment-card number on our own application servers. We may receive limited payment-related information such as transaction identifiers, payment status, card type, expiration information, billing details, or limited card information made available by the payment processor.
Your payment processor's handling of payment information is also subject to its own privacy policy and terms.
18. Legal and Safety Disclosures
We may collect, preserve, use, or disclose personal information where we reasonably believe doing so is necessary or appropriate to:
- Comply with applicable law or legal obligations;
- Respond to subpoenas, warrants, court orders, regulatory inquiries, or other lawful processes;
- Respond to lawful requests from governmental or law-enforcement authorities;
- Investigate, prevent, or address fraud, abuse, security incidents, or illegal activity;
- Protect the rights, property, safety, reputation, or security of us, our users, Burbayne Inc., Athletes World, or others;
- Enforce our Terms of Use, agreements, and policies;
- Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims; or
- Respond to emergencies involving potential threats to safety or security.
19. Business Transfers
If Burbayne Inc., Athletes World, or any relevant portion of the business is involved in or considering a merger, acquisition, financing, investment, reorganization, restructuring, bankruptcy, insolvency, sale of assets, transfer of ownership, or similar transaction, personal information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction or related due diligence, subject to applicable law.
20. International Processing and Transfers
We are based in Canada and make the Services available internationally. Our service providers and technology infrastructure may operate in Canada, the United States, and other countries.
As a result, your personal information may be transferred to, stored in, accessed from, or otherwise processed in countries outside your province, state, territory, or country of residence.
Privacy and data-protection laws in those jurisdictions may differ from those in your home jurisdiction, and information stored in another jurisdiction may be subject to lawful access by courts, law-enforcement agencies, national-security authorities, or other governmental authorities in that jurisdiction.
Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, we will use an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism or other legally recognized safeguard as required.
21. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and for legitimate business, operational, legal, security, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, enforcement, and recordkeeping purposes, subject to applicable law.
Retention periods may vary depending on the nature of the information, the relationship between you and us, whether you have lifetime access, legal or regulatory requirements, potential disputes, security considerations, and our legitimate business needs.
Because lifetime access is intended to remain available for an extended period, information necessary to establish your purchase and provide that access may need to be retained for as long as the applicable lifetime-access service remains available or for another period permitted or required by law.
Information may also remain in backups, archives, logs, fraud-prevention systems, legal records, and other systems for additional periods where reasonably necessary or legally permitted.
22. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
However, no website, network, database, transmission, cloud service, or information system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We therefore cannot guarantee the absolute security of personal information.
You are responsible for protecting access links, devices, email accounts, and other credentials or systems through which you access the Services.
23. Your Privacy Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal information. These may include rights to:
- Know whether we process your personal information;
- Request access to personal information we maintain about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information;
- Request deletion of certain personal information;
- Request a portable copy of certain personal information;
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- Object to or restrict certain processing;
- Opt out of certain marketing communications;
- Opt out of certain targeted advertising, sale, or sharing activities where applicable;
- Request information concerning categories of personal information collected, used, or disclosed;
- Object to certain automated decision-making where applicable;
- Complain to an applicable privacy or data-protection authority; and
- Exercise other rights provided by applicable privacy law.
These rights are not absolute. We may decline or limit a request where permitted or required by law, including where information must be retained to comply with legal obligations, establish or defend legal claims, protect security, prevent fraud, preserve freedom of expression or journalistic activity, complete a transaction, or for another lawful reason.
24. How to Exercise Your Privacy Rights
You may submit a privacy request by contacting us at [email protected].
Please describe your request with sufficient detail for us to understand and respond to it.
We may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests. Verification may require us to confirm information associated with your account, purchase, email address, or prior interactions with us. We will request only information reasonably necessary for verification.
Where permitted by law, you may use an authorized agent to submit certain requests on your behalf. We may require evidence of the agent's authority and may separately verify your identity.
We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
25. Canadian Privacy Rights
If Canadian privacy law applies to our processing of your personal information, you may have rights relating to access, accuracy, correction, consent, appropriate use and disclosure, safeguards, transparency, retention, and challenging our compliance with applicable privacy requirements.
Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawal may affect our ability to provide a product or service where the information is necessary to provide that product or service.
We seek to collect, use, and disclose personal information for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances and to limit our processing in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy requirements.
If you have a concern about our privacy practices, we encourage you to contact us first at [email protected] so that we can investigate and respond. You may also have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or another applicable provincial privacy authority.
26. California Privacy Notice
This section provides additional information for California residents to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA"), applies to our processing.
Depending on your interactions with us, we may collect categories of personal information described under California law including identifiers; customer-record information; commercial information; internet or other electronic-network activity; geolocation information at an approximate level; audio, electronic, visual, or similar information; professional or employment-related information where voluntarily submitted; characteristics or demographic information where voluntarily provided; and inferences derived from other information.
We collect these categories from you directly, automatically through your use of the Services, from our service providers and business partners, from advertising and analytics providers, and from other sources described in this Privacy Policy.
We use these categories for the business and commercial purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing the Services, processing transactions, authentication, publishing, communications, advertising, analytics, security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and improving our Services.
We may disclose these categories to the categories of recipients described in this Privacy Policy, including infrastructure providers, payment processors, email providers, analytics providers, advertising platforms, technology providers, professional advisers, and other service providers.
We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration as part of our ordinary business model. Certain disclosures involving advertising or analytics technologies, however, may potentially constitute "sharing," "sale," targeted advertising, or similar activity under broadly defined state privacy laws.
Subject to applicable law, California residents may have the right to request that we disclose certain information about our collection and use of personal information, access personal information, request deletion, request correction, and opt out of covered sale or sharing.
We will not unlawfully discriminate against you because you exercised an applicable privacy right.
Requests may be submitted to [email protected].
27. Global Privacy Control and Opt-Out Preference Signals
Where required by applicable law, we will process legally recognized browser-based opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control ("GPC"), as requests to opt out of covered sale or sharing of personal information for the browser or device from which the signal is received.
Because these signals may operate at the browser or device level, we may not be able to associate a signal with you across every browser, device, or service unless applicable technology and law permit us to do so.
28. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" ("DNT") setting. Because there is not necessarily a universally accepted standard governing all DNT signals, our Services may not respond to every DNT signal. We will, however, recognize legally required opt-out preference signals such as GPC where applicable.
29. EEA Privacy Rights and GDPR
If the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") applies to our processing of your personal data, we process personal data only where we have an applicable lawful basis.
Depending on the circumstances, our lawful bases may include:
- Performance of a contract, including processing necessary to provide lifetime access, process purchases, administer paid services, and provide requested Services;
- Consent, including where consent is required for certain marketing communications, cookies, advertising technologies, or other processing;
- Legitimate interests, including operating and improving the Services, protecting security, preventing fraud, understanding our audience, administering our business, protecting legal rights, and carrying out appropriate marketing or analytics where those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests; and
- Compliance with legal obligations, including tax, accounting, regulatory, law-enforcement, and other legal requirements.
Where GDPR applies, you may have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection to certain processing, withdrawal of consent, and the right to lodge a complaint with an applicable supervisory authority.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may have the right to object to that processing. Where we process personal data for direct marketing, you may object to such processing as provided by applicable law.
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing performed before withdrawal.
30. United Kingdom Privacy Rights
If UK data-protection law applies to our processing, you may have rights under the UK GDPR and applicable United Kingdom data-protection legislation, including rights relating to access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, automated decision-making, and complaints to the applicable supervisory authority.
Our lawful bases for processing may include contractual necessity, consent, legitimate interests, recognized legitimate interests where applicable, and compliance with legal obligations.
International transfers of personal information from the United Kingdom will be handled using an applicable lawful transfer mechanism where required.
31. Residents of Other U.S. States
Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional privacy rights under state law. Depending on the jurisdiction and whether the applicable law applies to us, these may include rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information and to opt out of targeted advertising, certain profiling, sale, or other covered processing.
You may submit such requests to [email protected]. We will process applicable requests in accordance with the law governing your request.
32. Marketing Opt-Outs
You may unsubscribe from promotional email communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link provided in an applicable message.
We may continue to send communications that are necessary to provide lifetime access, process transactions, respond to requests, protect security, administer our relationship with you, or satisfy legal obligations.
33. Deleting Personal Information and Lifetime Access
You may request deletion of personal information where applicable law provides such a right.
Certain information may be necessary to establish that you purchased lifetime access, identify you as the purchaser, authenticate you, provide access, prevent unauthorized use, and maintain transaction records.
If you request deletion of information that is essential to providing lifetime access, we may explain that fulfilling the deletion request will result in the loss or termination of your access. Where applicable law permits, you may be required to choose between retaining the information necessary to maintain the Service and having that information deleted.
We may retain information notwithstanding a deletion request where permitted or required by law, including for legal compliance, tax and accounting obligations, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, enforcement, establishment or defense of legal claims, journalistic purposes, freedom of expression, or other legally recognized exceptions.
34. Public and Editorial Content
Privacy rights relating to information contained in published editorial, journalistic, artistic, or literary material may differ from rights applicable to ordinary commercial account information.
Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to waive or restrict any journalistic, artistic, literary, freedom-of-expression, public-interest, or similar exemption, defense, right, or protection available to us, Burbayne Inc., Athletes World, our contributors, or our publishers under applicable law.
35. Third-Party Websites and Services
The Services may contain links to third-party websites, social-media platforms, advertisers, retailers, affiliate partners, payment providers, or other third-party services.
We do not control the privacy practices of independent third parties. When you leave our Services or interact directly with another company, that company's privacy policy and terms may govern its collection and use of your information.
We encourage you to review the privacy practices of third parties before providing them with personal information.
36. Youth Athletes and Age Restrictions
Athletes World may permit athletes who are at least 13 years old to participate in eligible submissions, applications, interviews, profiles, features, and other publication-related activities.
Athletes between the ages of 13 and 17 may generally provide their own information and participate in eligible Services without parental or guardian authorization, except where parental or guardian authorization or consent is required by applicable law or is necessary for a particular purchase, contract, release, or other transaction.
Individuals under the age of 13 may not submit applications, create accounts, purchase Services, or otherwise provide personal information directly through the Services.
We seek to limit personal information collected from youth athletes to information reasonably necessary for the applicable editorial, publication, administrative, safety, or legal purpose and do not intentionally request unnecessary sensitive personal information from minors.
Where applicable law requires parental or guardian authorization or consent, we may request information reasonably necessary to identify or communicate with the parent or guardian and document that authorization or consent.
If we learn that we collected personal information from an individual under 13, or from a minor in circumstances requiring parental or guardian consent without obtaining the required consent, we will take appropriate steps to delete, restrict, or otherwise address that information as required by applicable law.
Questions or requests concerning a youth athlete's personal information may be directed to [email protected].
37. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our Services, technology, business practices, service providers, legal requirements, or other circumstances.
When we update this Privacy Policy, we may revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Where applicable law requires additional notice or consent for a material change, we will provide such notice or obtain such consent as required.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
38. Language
This Privacy Policy may be made available in English for convenience and accessibility. If there is a conflict between translations, the version designated as controlling under applicable law or our applicable Terms of Use will govern to the extent permitted by law.
39. Privacy Complaints
If you have a question, concern, or complaint regarding our handling of personal information, please contact us using the information below.
We will review privacy complaints and respond as required by applicable law. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the applicable privacy commissioner, data-protection authority, attorney general, supervisory authority, or other regulator.
