On July 1, 2019, 15-year-old Coco Gauff stepped onto a Wimbledon court to face one of her childhood heroes.
Across the net stood Venus Williams, a five-time Wimbledon champion who was 39 years old.
Gauff had grown up watching Venus and her sister Serena dominate tennis. The Williams sisters had helped inspire her to pick up a racket. Now she was facing one of them in her first Grand Slam singles main-draw match.
And she won.
