• HYROX has turned familiar gym exercises into a standardized race format, giving everyday athletes a new way to train, compete and chase personal bests.
HYROX started with a simple idea: people who run have marathons. People who lift weights and work out at the gym needed something to train for, too.
The idea caught on. HYROX launched in Hamburg in 2017 and has grown especially fast in recent years. Participation jumped from about 80,000 in the 2022-23 season to more than 1.4 million in 2025-26, with events in 30 countries. In September 2026, investors led by L Catterton acquired a controlling stake in the company in a deal that valued HYROX at roughly €600 million. (Financial Times, 2026)
